Useful information - Flowers - Guide to Choosing your Flowers - Flower Styles The following articles have been provided by advertisers within our directory, we you find informative and helpful |
Choosing your Florist It is important to start looking for your Wedding Florist at least 9-12 months prior to your wedding, Gather information together such as pictures of your dress and your bridesmaids dress, colour swatches, and any pictures of flowers and designs you like to give the florist an overall idea of the theme you are trying to create. Arrange a Personal Consultation with the florist of your choice; you may want to ask your mum or bridesmaids to be present. Ask the florist about what’s in season, also do they know the venue you have chosen, have they done flowers there before? if not they may wish to visit the venue you could meet there for your final consultation there may be things the florist can suggest that you hadn’t thought of, ask the venue organisers if you can visit when they are getting ready for a wedding this way you can see the set up and where things are positioned.
At the consultation discuss all aspects of the wedding flowers from buttonholes to thank you bouquets, A good florist will have a portfolio of their work which you can look through, don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions, tell them your budget and they should advice you of how best to spend it, remember when on a small budget chose the bouquet you really want and then go for a few large arrangements that will get noticed rather that trying to over decorate every area without any memorable effect! Once you have built up all the ideas with the florist they will then give you an idea of what you will expect to pay, If you are happy about this and you feel confident with them book as soon as possible, you will be expected to pay around £50 deposit. Once you have booked keep in touch and let them know of any changes and make sure you are both clear about the arrangements on the day. And on the day remember to enjoy the flowers, smell them and take in their detail! Karen Wall |
